Guest guest
There's a big spread on the lovely Darcey Bussell in this week's HELLO! talking about her pregnancy and birth complications. She was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia at 33 weeks and had an emergency c/s and then on top of having baby Phoebe in SCBU went downhill herself and was in a critical state for 3 days. All this has a happy ending, you'll be pleased to hear, and she's been back in class for a month (3 months after the birth, gulp!) and will be performing at Christmas. What I found particularly interesting was her few words about how very ill she felt when diagnosed. Pre-eclampsia is talked about a lot, but all the books usually say is " raised blood pressure " and doesn't say how the expectant mum might feel. Darceysaid she had overwhelming pain, chest pains and backache. So, we'll never get that statistic on athletes and vaginal birth... particularly as following that experience she's revised her original plans for 4 children! Anneliese and the terror...
