Guest guest
You are probably going to get better answers on the older kids with plagio board as I'm sure most if not all of us here chose to band. Also look for boards where adults with plagio post to gain more prospective. What were your reasons for deciding against it? How severe was your case? Are you happy with your choice or do you regret it? How has your child progressed without it? Specifically, what factors led to your decision? Thank you, I appreciate any feedback. I hear lots of feedback about people who went with the helmet, but i'd really like to hear alternate thoughts. Guest guest
Hi I chose to helmet my son, however I believe there is a forum called Untreated Plagio that may help you more. Guest guest
I was completly against the helmet from the very beginning and now I am paying for it. You said you knew all the good reasons to get one so I won't go over them again. I do know after hours, and hours, days and days of research there is not enough information out there on older children with untreated plagio. As someone before me stated this is a new issue due to new baby gagets and the way we are instructed to raise our children. My Husband and I are huge believers in alternative medicine, neither likes to go to the doctor unless we are very ill. We stay away from prescriptions and feel most doctors will mess you up like a mechanic will mess up a car to keep you coming back. HORRIBLE I know. I am just not a huge believer. BUT!!!! I went to the older plagio group chatted with several of them and they ALL regret not banding thier child. ALL!!!! That was huge. Also look through the photo files they have. That was enough to scare the crap out of me. Like it has been said before me, there might be good underlying reasons why people get the helemt, eye & ear symmetry for improved or unaffected sight and hearing, I did it purely for cosmetic purposes. I got to thinking about all the dumb stuff I got picked on for in school and still to this day have complex's about. I do not want her to have one more thing that cruel kids will call out and make her not feel as beautiful as she is. I don't want her to be 16 years old upset and wonder why I didn't do something now. She will never remember it, they say it is painless, and at this point why not. Not sure if it helped but just wanted throw my opinion out there. I am getting a late start due to all of the debating I did and wish I hadn't been so stubborn to begin with. SHe is 17mm plagio which is pretty severe and has slight tort. I didn't really notice it at first but I am glad we are doing something about it. > > From: dustypages23 <dustypages23@...> > Subject: anyone decide against helmet? > Plagiocephaly > Date: Thursday, January 15, 2009, 5:20 PM > > > > > > > I am very aware of all the good reasons for getting a helmet, but I > would really appreciate hearing from those who chose against using the > helmet.
