Guest guest
Tonight I start teaching a new class (AN) at 8. At around 7.15 Zehava's first " shidduch " is turning up to take her out. Can you blame me for being in a bit of a state? Ruthie

Guest guest
Not surprised you're in a state Ruthie - please give us full report on both situations (anonymously rendered in the case of the class !) - you've only been back a day haven't you? DH and I talked to him for about 2 mns then introduced Zehava and off they went to town, to sit in a posh hotel, have a drink, and talk. My class went fine. I was in a bit of a jokey mood which always goes down well and puts people at their ease. After all they are absolutely terrified when they turn up to class 1. Terrified of me, of the classes and of having a baby, of course. My single one triumph in getting them " on side " was to reassure them that I am not going to force any NCT doctrine (real or imagined) down their throats as the only way to give birth. They said they had worried about this and were much relieved. Zehava arrived back almost as soon as the class ended at 10 pm. She, Tavya, Dov and DH were all esconced in the kitchen with the door closed and it took a lot of self control from me to stay calm until the last couple had left, so I could go in and ask how it went. How did it go? Much as I had imagined it would. She had a very nice time, he's a very sweet boy, and at the present time she cannot imagine marrying him. She described it as " like friends. " There was no spark, on her part but she has agreed to go out again. The intermediary/matchmaker, known as the Shadchan, is Doniel's dad (ie Avigayil's husband's father) as the boy is a nephew of his. He phoned up to say the boy thought the evening went well and wanted to meet her again, so I said fine. Zehava seems pretty sure (at this point) that it will not work, but she is giving it another go because it isn't clear cut enough not to. ie, if she couldn't stand his guts she wouldn't meet him again, but she liked him. Just not enough, she thinks. She is being pretty mature about it, in all our opinions here. Not being silly and flirty, but not taking it too heavily seriously either. She was pretty unenthusiastic about the date, expressing a strong preference for going ice skating with her friends instead! I reckon it would take a miracle for her to come back keen today. Twice will be enough; especially if the boy is getting keen on her (and who wouldn't!!). It just wouldn't be fair on him to string him along any further. I think I wrote about my class; it seems to be shaping up pretty well; nice group, willing to relax and get into things. Yeshaya is in trouble with us re his mobile phone. He PROMISED he'd only use the english one to send text messages to his friends, instead we have a bill for over £334, including one single call for over £100 to a girl in the UK. that was it. DH hit the ceiling the s**t hit the fan, and as of 30 days from now his contract has been cancelled. He will only be allowed pay as you go from now on, which is what his Israeli phone is. I'm not looking forward to telling him the bad news; at the moment he's on a two day hike with his friends up in the north of Israel.
