Guest guest
Hi Jill, I hope all is going well with the band, other than tossing his head back and forth. My daughter, who just graduated from her band last week, would do that too for a few weeks when she had her helmet on. She would make like a " no " motion and rub her head against her changing table, crib, floor. I think she just liked to feel different things against her head because after maybe two weeks of doing this on and off she has never done it again. So I wouldn't really worry about it if he isn't experiencing any other problems. Have a great weekend. Guest guest
i agree. she probably just likes the new sensation. however, shaking their head back and forth like that can also mean an ear infection. if she's tugging at her ear at all, i might have the doctor take a peek.holly mum to alex (7 months old) in doc band since 1/5/09On Fri, Jan 16, 2009 at 6:26 AM, Roper <sbmcd15@...> wrote: Hi Jill, I hope all is going well with the band, other than tossing his head back and forth. Guest guest
My grandson did the same thing with his head even when the helmet is off. Don't worry, he will stop on his own. It took about 1 month for us. From: drewandjill@... <drewandjill@...>Subject: Head TossingPlagiocephaly Date: Friday, January 16, 2009, 12:50 AM My name is Jill and I've just joined the group today. My son is 6months and starting his 3rd week in his STARband. He has started tossing his head back and forth from side to side really quickly. At his first recheck our orthotist adjusted the helmet and he has stopped doing it while wearing the helmet but he still does it when the helmet is off if his head touches anything. Any thoughts? His skin is not red and there are not any rashes or bumps. I've scratched it to see if he seems itchy but that doesn't seem to give him any relief. Guest guest
Our son also did this. We were quite concerned, but the orthotist was not. I believe it was b/c the surface (mattress etc) and direct contact with his bare head felt different than the helmet. Or it could have been b/c his head was itchy when we removed the helmet as his cradles cap worsened with the helmet use. Either way, he only did this head tossing thing for maybe a week, if that. I think it is a common......
