Guest guest
DS is still not walking (13 1/2 months) but crawling at high speed, and I have no idea what to put on his feet? He's been barefoot all summer but it's getting increasingly wet and muddy in the garden, and if I leave him in just socks they get all soaked. I have little wellies from DD (size 3) that fit him, but since he's not walking they just fall off - same with shoes - they are uncomfortable and hinder him from crawling properly. Also have pretty leather bootees for the pram, and he's worn those a few times in the garden but it really ruins them. DD was walking at his age, and by October, so don't have any comparison! Does anyone sell outdoor rain/crawling suits with feet - or rainbootees, or even raincovers to put on on top of warm socks or whatever? (Have tried plastic bags but not very practical, nor aesthetic!) Karina
Guest guest
Have a look at http://www.outdoorkids.co.uk - if anyone does anything like it, they will! Guest guest
DD1 started walking on the last day of August (1999). We were told not to get her " proper " shoes until she'd been walking for six weeks. However, she was v. eager to practice her new skills but by then the weather was quite wet. We found that a solid pair of slippers with a decent plastic/rubber sole was a good compromise. Guest guest
es (and maybe some other companies) make a 'pre-walker' shoe which is not totally waterproof, but is machine-washable. It's a sort of cloth on top with plasticky-rubbery sole that comes up over the toe. Avalable at es stores as well as and sometimes Mothercare (esp if there's a big one near you) HTH, Phyllis __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Elephanten does prewalker shoes that are fine for his age. Eloisa had a pair and they where great (this was in February so same kind of problem) Don't be put of by them being leather as they are done in such a way that you leave to dry and then all you need to do is brush them.. Far easier to keep clean than any other shoes I have tried ;o) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. -----

Solved the problem of DD1 insisting on crawling out side and fitted until she could have real shoes. Also sold in larger sizes than aged booties. A bit pricey ~15, but looked smart and should do DD2 as well. Sue Hutchinson, Mum to 30/01/98 and Isobel (HB) 23/02/

(Wasn't a problem for DS1 because of the seasons, but DS2 needed something when they weren't prepared to sell us proper shoes for him because he hadn't been walking long enough and we were going on holida. Cramped his style somewhat) -- jennifer@... Vaudin

Just the thing - he could have normal indoor bootees under these; and they should solve the wet and mud problem! I've ordered some online, if anyone wants a verdict once I've tried them just let me know. Karina

Guest guest
Also if your crawlers insist on doing it outside in this sort of weather you need an all in one suit for all the mud - and when they can walk you can get Mudskippers which have saved our lives since we moved into the muddy countryside - wellies welded onto waterproof placcy dungarees (Gt Little Trading Co I think we got them, but also 'fraid pricey, still if we all buy them the next generation will be able to get theirs from the NNS's!)
