Guest guest
This is gross BUT I have often wondered what would happen to a pierced belly button when that belly is pregnant - does anyone know? I just remember watching my recent appendix scar expand and expand along with my stomach when I was pg with DD1 ....... sorry I did say it was gross at the start ..... Guest guest
Oh my god ye......I had my belly peirvced a year or two before pregnancy, as soon as I got pregnant my body rejected the bar and started to migrate it to the surface of the skin. As my belly grew, a scar appeared and stretched the hole and the peircing scar. I am now left with a flap of skin that is about a centimeter across, and a scar from the needle that goes upwards about 1.5 inches! DONT DO IT!!!! PS. I am not too bothered though, as after having DS1 and doing 200 sit ups a day, my tummy still looks like a deflated beach ball, and will never be shown in public again!! Guest guest
Oh no! Poor you! I had my belly button pierced 7 years ago and it was fine during pg. I asked my midwife whether I should take the ring out and she said only if it seemed to be causing problems - which it didn't. Near the end it just stuck right out (and I put a different type of jewellery in it). I only took it out just before I was wheeled into the operating room for my CS. THe piercing looked exactly the same post-pg as before, other than looking a tiny bit stretched and deflated but no worse that the rest of my tummy. I am v. glad I didn;t have the same problems as you ! Guest guest
Oh yuk! So what happens when your belly button is pierced, they insert a bar in your stomach to stick the stud on or something? Do I, Mrs Squeamish 2001, really want to know? What happens to you sounds disgusting and would put me off even if I had wanted to in the first place (which I most definitely do not - I had my ears pierced on two separate days as I passed out when the first one was done!). Hard to believe I gave birth to DD2 with only gas and air, isn't it?! Guest guest
I was going to say as I think this one will be my last baby then it didn;t really matter... but even if it wasn't the end of babies maybe it wouldn;t be a problem anyway, I do heal well, all my scars for various things are practically invisible now -even the C/s and the last time I had a laparoscopy the Dr commented on how well the other scars were looking... Last summer i nearly had my bb pierced, but didn;t, then i got pg Angi 0:-) > Oh no! Poor you! > > I had my belly button pierced 7 years ago and it was fine during pg. Guest guest
It doesnt hurt much, just the initial pain of the needle. They clamp the top part of your belly button, and then force a large needle through the skin, then they thread a milimeter thick bar through the hole and attach a ball to each end. Sounds horrible, but it just burns like your ears do when they have just been done. Actually, it is worse than having ears done, as they make you breathe through the pain...which isnt that bad, but it is when someone has built it up in your mind! I had both mine done in Metalmorphosis in soho as they have a brilliant reputation. The first one didnt hurt at all, as I had 2 pints of cider beforehand, and they sprayed the area with anaesthetic! So I was supprised when I had the hole re-peirced a year later, and the guy refused to use pain killers as the " pain is part of the whole process of the art of body piercing " ..YEH RIGHT!! so that one did hurt!! My advice is that if you want it done, make sure you go to a reputable place that is registered with the council.
