Guest guest
When I said the originals had been cut down I meant the clothes, not the beauteous plastic bodies!! Madeline is from the eponymous story(ies) by Ludwig Bemelmans, with the most delightful sort of rhyming only possible from someone who was multi-lingual with European languages, none of which presumably were spoken with straight pronounciation! Will have to dig around in boxes to find some of the rhymes...but Madeline lived in an orphanage in Paris with er 11 others and had various adventures such as appendix out, being kidnapped by someone at the fair etc etc. And the dolls are really sweet...proper little girls! I'm not sure you can buy them here but you can get them from The Farmyard on the top of Richmond Hill (Surrey) and Toystop in East Sheen (SW14)....and I think various catalogues Actually you can (could?) also get Barbies' much nicer younger sisters - er Stacey I think is the little girl and then there's a sort of 13-14 yr old (only an AA cup) whose name I think begins with B (DH's contribution unprintable) Caro > Please explain Caro, sounds painful and who is Madeline? > > >They are largely unclothed as the originals have had the makeover > >treatment and been cut down for the Madelines who are still being > >played with)
