Zehava got engaged!

Well (in case anyone is interested...as you don't seem to be, I am

still going to tell you all anyhow...)

My youngest daughter Zehava got engaged this evening to Moishi Dansky

from Gateshead! They had been meeting all the week, and had become

progressively more open, frank and honest in their discussions. It

seems that Moishi fell for her pretty much straightaway, he only had

to wear down my daughter's initial doubts and resistence which he did

very dashingly and forcefully this afternoon, when he told her he

wanted to marry her and that was that! Apparently he stopped the car

in the middle of the Finchley Road, with a bus hooting behind

him...went up to the bus driver and said " Can you wait a minute? I am

just going to propose. " The bus driver, amused, waited, and Moishi

opened the passenger door and said " Zehava Pearlman will you marry

me? " To which she replied " Yes but please get back in the car, I am

dying of embarrassment! "

Then he went back to the bus driver, thanked him for waiting and told

him he could be the first to congratulate them.

Since they arrived back home (around 7 pm.) the phone and door haven't

stopped ringing. All my kids who live locally have been round of

course, plus Zehava's friends, plus some of his friends who haven't

yet gone back to Yeshivah in Israel, plus plus plus...

We are making an official engagement party on Wednesday this week, as

I am teaching my antenatal classes tomorrow night, and Moishi's

parents haven't yet met their new daughter in law. They are coming

down on Tuesday. The party will be in a local venue and catered, so I

don't have too much work to do for that.

As to the wedding, the engagement won't be long as I have said before,

the young couple are not allowed to kiss or even touch, so it isn't

fair to have long drawn out engagements. Probably February or maybe

even January.

As to a ring, I have no idea yet but my daughter has very fixed ideas

as to what she wants!!

They look very happy and at ease with each other now. Here are some

pics.

Congratulations to all concerned. :-)

Tis a sign of the times these mobile phones! One of the first pics of

me postnatally is with a phone glued to my ear. Sadly not a mobile (not

allowed on mat ward - wouldn't have to worry if they didn't insist on

all those monitors being around lol) but the one that was next to my

bed. I think I was arranging an overdraft rather than spreading the

good news though!

Congratulations to Zehava and Moishi and what a lovely romantic proposal :)

Lovely photos, they look so relaxed together and Zehava is sooooooo pretty,

you must be feeling very proud Ruthie.

Oh I forgot to mention that when he opened the passenger door to ask

her to marry him he got down on one knee, right in the middle of

Finchley Road in the rain! :))

Yes and very thankful to God too, that we have found a lovely son in

law and someone to make our last daughter very happy.

It depends on how strictly orthodox the young couple are; I must

confess that DH and I did hold hands a bit (sort of intertwined little

fingers) but he felt guilty about it! and my eldest daughter and her

DH had quite a cuddle session once in a deserted car park when the

hormones overcame them!! This young couple probably will stick to the

rules, if I know them, but maybe I don't! I do know he is VERY keen

on her, and she says she can see herself slowly falling in love.

Hooray! You’re right, these things are quick! I’m glad for

all of you that she decided she liked him after all. They

do look happy (if a bit embarrassed about all the

pictures). And so very young!

And what a great engagement story :)

Of course we’re interested, Ruthie. :)

Phyllis (and I’m amazed you let Yeshaya keep his mobile for

that long. Maybe I’m a cheapskate, but even one large phone

bill would have had him back on pay as you go...)

Yup a right couple of babies, still they'll grow up together :)

I love romantic proposals, I had the worst lousiest unromanticest

proposal ever and I have never let DH forget it! LOL!

I know, I know. I guess a bit like an abused wife, we kept believing

his promises that he would change...

Congratulations Ruthie on Zehava's engagement!! (I nearly wrote Yeshaya's

engagement - bit of a freudian slip ;o)) )

It all sounds very romantic, just over a week ago she'd never met him and

now she has a wedding to plan and look forward to - what fun! The photos

are lovely and I'm sure they'll be a very happy couple. Not touching though

until after the wedding - tough one!

Best wishes to you all!

It is, very tough, which is why some young couples succumb to a bit of

cheating here and there! and why we intend keeping the engagement as

short as is practically feasible :) But in some very strict Hassidic

sects (to which we don't belong) they advocate the young couple not

seeing each other at all from engagement to wedding, to avoid this

problem! My kids would have found this impossibly hard; since the

dating period was so brief, the engagement, even 3 months of it, is

used to get to know each other a lot better which you can do without

touching!

Congratulations to you and of your family Ruthie. How exciting. Now

it's time to make a wedding (as my 'auntie' Debra would say!)
