Guest guest
We gave DD a dolls'house for her third birthday two weeks ago, and I thought she could start getting some content at Christmas (dolls and some furniture) and then get more at subsequent birthdays. Question: I've already got the dolls and the bedroom furniture in the cupboard. Should I give them to her now? I don't want her to think that things grow on trees... but at the same time she would get so much more joy out of it if she had some bits...!! She was so sweet the other night - she said 'Please can I play with my door before I go to bed'(the only part of the dolls house that moves!). Also keep being impressed by the strict 3-year-old logic. - Daddy will put you to bed - Nooo, mummy should do it!! - No, today is Daddy's turn. - Noooo, mummy! Daddy can put Bastian to bed. - But Daddy would like to put YOU to bed. - Will he be sad? - Yes, I think he'll be a little bit sad if he can't put you to bed. (Long thinking pause) - But you will be happy! Karina August pics at http://www.btinternet.com/~kbholm

Guest guest
Karina I would give her the dolls and 1 set of furniture to play with before Christmas ;o) that will also encourage her to use her imagination to make other stuff into furniture ;o).. Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
Guest guest
Haha! You're right about the imagination bit. She twigged that her dolls and teddies were too big to occupy the house but has now nicked little brother's truck driver and bus passengers (he got lots of vehicles for his birthday being a boy :-)) and they all sleep on the floor upstairs in the empty dolls house like a bunch of 9-yearolds on sleepovers. I'll now have to give her the dolls house people on the grounds of sibling rivalry. Actually reading my previous post I sound like a real spoil sport, hiding her dollshouse people in a cupboard...!!! But it's a funny balance - I was brought up in down-to-earth Scandinavia you know :-) and you're not meant to be over the top + my parents grew up during the war and always held off on toys unless it was our birthdays. It's a different game now I think. But yes, I'll give her the dolls and the bedroom stuff on a rainy day some time soon!
