Guest guest
The kids have got red spots on their faces, and on closer inspection, their bodies. They've both had chicken pox, and DD has had her MMR. They have colds at the moment, but are otherwise quite chirpy, so don't think it's any major disease (though of course I have thought the meningitis and anthrax thoughts!!). What could it be? Have checked the bed for flees - plus washed their bedlinen. Any thoughts? Should I be worried? They probably have another dose, but as they're quite chirpy I expect they will be fine in a week or so, BUT do watch out for a sharp rise in temperature - CP can be dangerous if it gets any worse. Check with your GP if there are any changes in their condition, otherwise try not to spread it too far around your neighbourhood! Shame to get it in the holidays - all their friends will now get it first week back at school I expect! Ruth
Guest guest
Sounds a bit odd Karina. As I understand it, although you can get CP more than once, it is quite rare, because they should get lifelong immunity the first time. You say that DD has had her MMR, but it's not 100% effective so you can't necessarily expect not to get those illnesses. I can't think right now what else red spots could be - do you have a children's medical book? I think I'd be getting it checked out with the GP just in case. Better that it's something harmless that the GP can confirm than you leave it and it's something that does need treatment. Hope they get better soon. Guest guest
My girls have had a rash like that - I initially thought (panicked!) it was measles or German measles as they have not been MMR'd. Doctor said it was a streptococcal (sp?) rash - often comes with a cold/sore throat. They were not too grumpy with the rash and fine two days later.
