Another toy I used to have that I remember very fondly was a garden

building toy - very unusual. You bought 'beds' that you could 'plant'

flowers or veg into and there were greenhouses and fences to build.

I had one of these too, the remnants of which including greenhouse lurk in a box

at my father's house. It was made by Britains and I'd love some more as I'm

sure Tamsin would enjoy playing with it like I did, but sadly its becoming

scarce and a bit of a collectors item so the secondhand price is rising, and you

don't see it at car boot sales.

My DH had this apparently, it was one of those toys that was kept at

Grandma and Granddad's for when the Grandchildren visited, and they

all loved it. MIL tried to find it for DS recently but it seems to

have vanished, probably to Scotland with SIL's (now grown up) kids :(

I doubt it will ever reappear, they are great ones for clearing out

old stuff, and not usually back to other younger members of the

family, worse luck.

We had a really ancient version of this, all made in painted metal -

and I think I noticed some of it in the doll's house in Windsor

Castle, no less, years later....it was great fun to play with it and

was given to my mother for us by an old man who wanted children to

enjoy it further...
