I don't call my PIL " mum and dad " , because I have my own parents, so I just call them by their names. I am aware though that the last time they stayed with us (last month), she told DH how she had to walk on eggshells when staying with her other son and his wife. I really don't want her to feel that when she comes here - I don't think she does, but she's in her 70's and maybe wouldn't say if something was wrong. I do get on very well with her though, enjoy her company and have good chats to her either on the phone about once a week or when we go up there (Aberdeen) which is next week actually.
