Guest guest
So It has been a long road but finally we saw a Pediatric Rehabilitation & Physical Medicine Doctor and got the results I knew we would. is 17 mm plagio and has slight tort. (Why do we have to jump through hoops to get information We already know? Jeez! That is a different post.)She is 7.5 months old and time is of the essence. I am conflicted though. I keep hearing how important the right Ortho is.... I wanted to go to Cranial Tech here in Houston (actually The Woodlands but close enough) The doctor I met with today insited it wasn't neccessary and that she has only had one patient that did not receive great results the first time and had to go to a second band. She referred me to OrthoAmerica Doctor son....Anyone have any referrals or information on him. I just need to make the right decision and am very conflicted. Orthoamerica is closer but I don't care about the drive I just want it to be done right and quick. My husband was a little uncomfortable with Dr Bob at Cranial Tech because he felt like Dr. Bob was being a salesman and on top of that we have to do the casting with plaster because they haven't gotten the digital cameras yet. They are further away and my insurance will only cover 70%...He has been doing it a long time though and seemed very confident. HE will of course use the Doc Band which I have come to think seems superior to the other bands from reading all if these posts. Dr. son with OrthoAmerica has been with them for 3 years and the nurse says he sees a couple babies a day with helmets, I can't find too much information on him and just want to make the right decision. My insurance will cover 90% of his costs and I am assuming he will use a Starband which I am not too thrilled on. Just seems to not have the greatest or quickest results. Any words of wisdom or information on either doctor. I am struggling with this but want to get moving ASAP. I have my 1st appointment with OrthoAmerica Thurs. morning to actually meet him. Last all my views are perception I have no actual experience or friend and family experiences to go with. I am looking to this group for help. Thanks, le in Houston Mom to 7.5 months 17mm plagio and tort. no helmet yet
Guest guest
Hi le, What Orthoamerica office in Houston are you going to? We are at the one on South Main. I have not heard of that Orthotist though. We have been pleased with the results- we had one fitting that we felt like we wasted 3 weeks because the fit was too loose, but other than that and a few crazy miscommunications-it has been a good experience. I would be happy to share any information with you. I live in Northwest Houston/Cypress. Guest guest
Kristy, It is the one on South Main. What doc are you using there? I am not sure if you helped my confidence in them at all, with talks of wasted weeks, poor fit, and miscommunications. I would love to talk with you one on one. I just need to make the right decision and don't mind the drive and more money if that is what it will take. If you email me your number I would love to call and talk with you about your experiences in that office. I am just very nervous! You must remember that feeling. le1col@...
