Bowing to your superior knowledge, Karina and others - I was thinking

of buying DD1 a doll's house for Christmas - she is just 3. Which

one have you chosen and why? They are so expensive that I do not

want to make a mistake, nor do I want to get something that will be

too 'babyish' in a years time. Have looked at Tridias and Letterbox

ones.

Did you go to a shop or buy over the net?

All ideas greatfully received.

We bought a dolls house emporium kit (They advertise in craft mags) but

ours came from a dolls house shop in salisbury, where they had a display

upstairs of all the kits made up. painted it in wedgewood colours

and put roof-tile effect paper on the roof, Elllie had it for her 3rd

birthday. I think ours looks nearest to the 'Classical'....they seem

quite expensive but it is good to get the catalogue to see the options

available. The main decisions to make are - what sort of opening at the

front - double doors or onne? top opening too? and which way do the

stairs go.

Sylvanian family furniture was the best to go in the house. It was just

the right price for B/day & Xmas pressies, though we bought some really

cheap plastic furniture to fill the house quickly - it didn`t last long

but tided us over. We didn`t bother with the chunky expensive wooden

block-type furniture.

Don`t go with anytihng with too fiddly windows, especially if you have

ever have boys over to play - they get kicked in!

looking at the site - I might go for blossom cottage/meadow ccottage if

I was buying now...
