Guest guest
I just got told that Guiness isn't non-meat eater friendly Apparently part of the process of making it involves fish heads? Not that they're in it but used as part of the process IYSWIM? Anyone know? are my Guiness drinking days over? Am I being 'wound up'? Guest guest
dunno specifically about Guinness, but IIRC a product derived form fish (?heads rings a bell) is used often in winemaking to clarify the wine -and get rid of any sediment. I think also egg whites are used, making most wines possibly non veggie and non vegan. (this is why you can get vegetarian wines, a thing which puzzled DH for a bit!!) I have no idea whether some similar process is used in beer/stout making, so I am not much help!! Try emailing Guinness? _________________ Angi 0:-) > I just got told that Guiness isn't non-meat eater friendly Apparently > part of the process of making it involves fish heads? Guest guest
Isenglas - IIRC made from fish swim bladders - Used as clarifying agent (fineing) in many brewing/ fermenting processes. Don't drink scrumpy - once told ghastly story about rough Somerset cider and being told it was rats that gave it the special flavor. Eugh!!!
