Guest guest
We agonised over this one, even though we only had 3 or 4 to choose from! I am nearly glad I didn't know about the doll's house website - too much choice for me! We started with a wonderful specialist doll's house shop down the road, which does beautifully decorated houses and 000's of accessories with real-life details, but in the end we decided that we wanted a present for a 3-year old, not for an 8-year old collector. I wanted her to be allowed to play with it on her own, and I didn't want to have to be too upset if the paint got scratched, or a door fell off - so for us it had to be a) not too expensive, and relatively solid. So we checked Tridias, GLTC, Letterbox, and a few other catalogues instead. Was really pieved to find that GLTC's Georgian Doll's House sells for 79.99 - I bought the same for a little baby girl for 99.99 in !!! In the end we went for a pure wooden one from Letterbox, which has brightly painted windows/doors and was £99 I think. Can't remember what it's called, but it looks quite cheerful. Comes flatpacked, and relatively easy to put together. Only downside is the windows/doors are movable - which means they sometimes move when they shouldn't! Might also have been attracted to it because it looks a tiny bit Scandinavian with the wooden look... I have to admit I really like those sturdy wooden doll's house furniture too - nice for small hands!
