I did get an extra hour in bed as we remembered to alter 's clock

before we went to bed and he ALWAYS gets up at 7am. (If we had not he would

have got up at 6am) We then lazed in bed until 8am. Then noticed a

few minutes back that the clock downstairs did not " agree " with the clock in

his head - but I think he thought we were going to be late for church.

However I do remember when we did not get extra time in bed but it meant that

the boys got up earlier - black out linings worked in our house and the 2

youngest boys have them in their rooms. Jack does not even bother closing

his blind.

Thing is, I *could* sleep in if I wanted to, but I can't. That comes

with getting older I think. I was up till after 2.30 a.m. (new time)

this morning finally goaded into getting on with the rewrites on my

latest crime thriller which has been very neglected with recent

events. I have only the final chapter to write now!

However I am still addicted to my afternoon nap so that will help me

catch up later on! I know Zehava wants to go to Wembley market later

on this morning, it's a wonderful hunting ground for mobile phone

covers for a fiver apiece, and she wants to buy Moishi one.

Yeshaya has gone back to Israel as of last night (he came home on

Wednesday for the engagement party) and I must say the visit, brief

though it was, was less than successful. His expectations were way

out of synch with reality; he thought his friends would all be

available for him (they are at school during the day, and had piles of

homework at night), so except for Sabbath, he was very bored) and he

thought Zehava would give him priority attention and talk with him

into the small hours, and found himself annoyed at her " obsession "

with Moishi instead!

Sad to say we all breathed a bit of a sigh of relief when I dropped

him off at Heathrow last night after Sabbath. We will all evaluate

MUCH more carefully the wisdom of bringing him home from yeshivah for

such a " trivial " reason next time. Besides it looking " spoilt brat "

it disrupts his studies and makes for a tense time all round.

Feels like we've had a long lie-in but now realise it's only 7:49!

Still, the babes are still not up so perhaps somebody told them about

the clocks - either that or DH soothed them back to sleep with milk

at some on-Godly hour in the morning.

Sympathetic hugs. Hope you mange to get them to bed a bit earlier tonight

to make up for it.

DD was playing with other young fiddlers (violinists!) from the local

schools' Strathspey and Reel groups at a concert last night. We only got

somewhat sketchy info from the school about it (that's secondary education

for you!) but the rehersal and concert times were included and she was keen

to do it especially as it was in the Usher Hall (Edinburgh's major Concert

Hall). I was a bit taken a back that the tickets for the upper circle were

£10 each, but bought them anyway. We didn't find out until we collected the

tickets from the box office, on our way in, that the children were the

invited guest performers of the ish Fiddle Orchestra at theSFO's

concert - the hall was full of real grown ups who had bought real tickets!!

The DS's were quite impressed too even though it is not their sort of music

at all. The concert was great, lots of traditional scottish music with

encouragement to clap and join in the songs and even to dance in the aisles

for a couple of items (people did all of these things!!!). The children's

orchestra were quite fantastic - really clear and tuneful for their own

pieces and blending perfectly with the main orchestra for the shared items.

DH arrived back from Taiwan in the morning and as it didn't finish until

10.30pm he was as exhausted as the children. The extra hour made all the

difference for us this morning - all present and correct(ish) in time for

church :-)

They were very grumpy and grizzly by bedtime but all the whinges and

complaints meant that they were no earlier than usual. Still peace

reigns now .... long may it last!

Black out blinds great here too - at least in the bedroom.

DS, very cunningly, has worked out quite recently that if he asks to

go to the toilet he can see out through the bathroom window and work

out whether it really is still black outside or whether we're winding

him up by telling him it's still night time and we just want a lay-in.
