Share room or not - eternal dilemma

I just quarrelled (debated, sorry) with DH yet again about where to

move DS' cot. DS is going to be 15 months this coming week and we are

desperate to get him out of our room - mostly because he sleeps so

lightly and will stir whenever we come to bed, get up, or otherwise

make the mistake of coughing, turning over, or whatever.

Problem is, there are only two bedrooms upstairs (though ours is a

reasonable size) and although we have a guestroom I don't want him

two floors below us in case of fire or burglary or whatever.

DH wants to move him into DD's room, but I am just terrified that

they will wake each other up, or the other one will see me when I'm

coming into settle the other, or that they will get up earlier in the

morning. Sleep is so precious to me at the moment, I don't want to

take any chances at all!!! (DS has slept marginally better the last

few nights so perhaps his teething or whatever is better, but his

sleeping patterns are still extremely fragile). Should we just try it?

Alternative would be to build a little box (two false walls) in the

corner of our room, but DH hates this idea - as it ruins the

aesthetics of our bedroom (I frankly couldn't are less, as it's not

as if we do anything else there than sleep anyway!! But he brings up

feeble arguments about reselling the house).

Or to put DS on the landing, but that's a bit cruel isn't it, but

probably too light anyway.

Any ideas? I wouldn't really mind them sharing a room if they were

both brilliant sleepers, but that's not the case...
