Guest guest
Can I have a 'gloat' please - just had great weekend. Way back in April I nearly killed DD1 - haven't owned up to this before. We were offered what seemed to be a super pony for her to ride - tried him with her instructor all looked good, steering and brakes fully functioning. Next day took him for a hack, dd2 & I on foot and a lead rein just in case. All going well until all of a sudden he went off at high speed. Fran did everything right and nothing happened he just kept going with me in hot pursuit. I flagged down a car dd2 & I leapt in and eventually caught up with Fran standing by side of road trying not to cry and holding her arm (greenstick break above the elbow). (I felt so sick the visions in my head do not need dragging up) The little SOB headed for home perfectly fine. - I have subsequently found out that he is trotted flat out everywhere all the time. Well understandably she has been reluctant to ride but she asked grandpa for riding lessons for her birthday. I took her to a different riding school and she loved it, by the end of her lesson she was riding on the lunge without reins and stirrups and grinning from ear to ear. Then went to see a local production of Bugsy Malone - Brilliant and then yesterday morning Fran asked if she could go and ride her old friend who she used to ride and is a companion to my best friends horse but whats more she wanted me to ride as well! The weather here is fab at the moment so we went for a beautiful woodland walk in the morning and then in the afternoon went riding. My friend said the looks on our faces said it all. Fran has a twinkle in her eyes and I ache all over. And to top it off DH had cleaned out the sitting room by the time I got back (The dirty protest may be paying off) Off to garden now Caroline Happy of Jersey on Half term this week Germain Jersey British Channel Islands 49º11'30 " N 02º06'12 " W WGS84
