Sharing rooms and dentists

My two have always had separate bedrooms - but their favourite treat at

weekends is to be allowed to share a bedroom. It's usually chaos - they chat

and play for hours and are usually still up when DH and I go to bed. It has

been known for me to wake at 2 a.m. to hear them still talking. Occasionally

I have to separate them back into their own rooms - but I find it nice that

they enjoy each others company to want to spend the might together. However,

they are not always so nice to each other.

On another note - DS2 had a dental appointment today. A general check (this

being the first time at a dentists since we moved to Aus), and a check on a

front tooth which suffered a knock at playtime. The tooth is OK, but he had

an X-ray, a clean, and a fluoride application. The total bill was $280

(about 112 quid) - although I will be able to claim some (but not all) back

through our health insurance - come back good old NHS. They have also

recommended that he start flossing his teeth (he is nearly 7). Now our

dentist in the UK never mentioned that they should start flossing at this

age, and to be honest, I find it hard enough to floss my own teeth, and am

not sure how a 7 year old will manage it, or how I can do it for him - any

tips anyone?

There's an electric flosser, similar to an electric tooth-brush but just a

flossing piece - sorry don't know anymore about it - may be worth looking

into - or an electric toothbrush?.

Tell me about it!

I had root canal treatment whilst in Oz- it cost around 1000 dollars!

Steffi had to have small filling and a check up. Even that cost over

100 dollars.

Flossing - can you buy the dental sticks or mini brush-like things for

him to poke between his teeth rather than the floss? I use things like

mini bottle brushes as no matter how hard I try, I cannot use proper

floss - it splits as my teeth are so close together (yes even the stuff

that is supposed to be unsplitable.

I'm getting much better at flossing now - ever since I heard 'only floss

the teeth you want to keep'!
