Guest guest
OT: Weight Loss Surgery and More I had a doctors appointment today. We changed my meds from nothing for depression because the paxil was making me looney to welbutrin. We talked about my weight, well I brought it up. He has class and doesn't throw it in my face over and over again. I mentioned looking at surgical options and found out there is a man right in the same town that does Lap-Band proceedures. This is less invasive then the open typical weight loss surgery. I'm highly considering doing it. We talked about starting Meridia today but I don't want to change a problem with my heart. Meridia is the same as one of the componets of phentramine and phenflormine, which I was on 6 years ago. I don't know. I think the surgery is a good idea. I need to be here and healthy for my boys. Someone that understand them has to be alive to take care of them Am I nuts. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
, I don't have time right now to type out everything I want to say, but I will tell you I've considered it myself. Actually seriously considered it. BUT, then I saw a Dr. Phil show and realized that until I figure out WHAT'S making me eat things I know that I should eat less of, then it's not a good idea. Watching that show, I realized that it's not for me. I'll write more later on tonight. ellen Fw: Weight Loss Surgery and More OT: Weight Loss Surgery and More I had a doctors appointment today. Guest guest
ellen, I think I saw the same show. I know what makes me eat. Depression, hence why I started the wellbutrin today. I have to control my depression. I eat when I'm depressed, stressed , happy. You name it I eat. I have had a weight problem since I was 5 years old. Sad but true. I'm leaving in a few minutes to rejoin weight watchers. Love --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
I have been looking into WLS too. There is a great online support group for it, but I've forgotten the address. I found out when I had insurance it would not cover it, and there is no way in hell I could afford it on my own. The doctor here in Kansas does only the roux en y procedure, and I wasn't sure if I really wanted something that drastic. I guess it's the most safe and most effective surgical intervention. If I wanted lap band, I'd have to travel to Kansas City. The complication rate for any of these surgeries is extremely high. I've known 3 people who've had it done. The first one was over 15 years ago, and she's had the most health problems...she looks awful, has malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies...a big problem with the roux en y. My understanding is Lap Band carries some risk of perforation and scar adhesions. My husband had a nurse where he works who had major infection complication with it. The other two are faring beautifully. Good luck with your decision, and keep me up to date please. > > OT: Weight Loss Surgery and More > > > I had a doctors appointment today.
