Hi Jacquie,

If you don't mind discussing could you expand on " fibro " ? Can you tell me the

full name of the condition? I think it is the one my sister has, and when she

has a flare up she is just absolutely stuffed.

You mentioned vioxx, whats that?

Thanks,

Jen

I an not Jacquie....hehehe. But fibro is fibromyalgia. It is similar to

arthritis in that it causes general pain. It is considered muscular though

rather than joint related. It actually means muscle pain (fibro-pain,

myalgia-muscle). People who have it, including myself, experience good days

and bad. I am currently in a bad period myself (ie a fibro flare). It gets

very hard to even move some days. It also causes sleep issues and other

problems.

Hope that helps.

Tamara,

I was just reading more about this today. If my symptoms don't go away on the

new antidepressant I'm going to mention this to my doctor and have him check the

symptoms. I have all the pressure points. Weakness, tiredness, cramping.

It would also explain why my bloodwork was good.

I have been looking more into Fibro therapies. I still haven't re-

tried the guaifenesin therapy, for the life of me I don't know why.

I have it in my purse. It really seemed to work, just made me so

incredibly tired but I can never seem to remember to take it at night.

I was also reading about thyroid levels. That the thyroid level they

check (TSH) isn't the type they should be checking....that it often

comes back normal. Of course, the website I saw this on was selling

a 'herbal' thyroid stimulator drug (kindof like an oral diabetic

drug). Therapies from magnets to bracelets to herbs to

acupuncture...I'm still a skeptic about everything. I've also heard

HGH can help. AUGH!

My ultram started giving me massive headaches. ODDLY with all my

pain, headaches has never been a problem for me. So I am back on

Lortab.

I have noticed a pattern with my pain. Always when I'm tired. If I

go take a nap, I wake up feeling pretty good for about four hours.

Unfortunately, I can't always sleep when I feel bad. And I do feel

bad when I sit for long periods of time, and feel better if I get up

and do some light chore around the house. It's so funny, if I do

too much it kills me, and if I don't do enough it kills me too.

Sure. Fibromyalgia. I wish I could sum it up in a sentence, but it just

seems to be a whole basket of symptoms with no known cause or cure. It's in

the arthritis family, but also in the autoimmune family too. <sigh>

> You mentioned vioxx, whats that?

A prescription anti-inflammatory that works a helluva lot better than I

thought it did! LOL. I have to take it every day.

Guaifenesin is an expectorant actually. You use it when you have a

chest cold and it breaks up the phlegm in your lungs. It's a common

ingredient in cold meds, but you can get it by script in the pure

form. Nobody seems to know exactly why it works, but seems to help

fibromites. Maybe better oxygenation to the muscles?

I get really mad about it too, frustrated. Then I feel sorry for

myself. And when I feel really good, I always overdo it. I know, I

hate it when old people seem to have less pain than I do. I've

always thought there has GOT to be something more wrong with me, but

I know it's the Fibro. Lately, I've started like, twitching. I've

already been ruled out for MS, but still...it's always there in the

back of my head...is it something more.

Yup, mine is always perfect.

I just bought a copper bracelet the other morning in desperation. My hand

is not so bad, but I don't know if that's because of thebracelet, or because

I've finally gotten back on track with sleep.

Same here. If I don't get enough sleep, I am in so much pain -- which is

hard for me, because I've never been much of a sleeper; 6 hours has always

been my average. I really need to force myself to go to bed earlier, and I

don't always succeed, even though the payback the next day is just awful.

YES!

Yesterday I was feeling better, so I went to Zellers AND to the big grocery

store. Halfway through the groceries, my feet just stopped. I was SO

exhausted it was hard to move another step. Geriatric men were passing me

by like the INDY 500. I came home and put my feet up on a pillow for two

hours and that helped, but man it was awful.

I just get so angry at being so limited in what I can do. :-(
