Keys or rather lack of them.

OK - I know DH left them in an obvious place this morning, and I can remember

hearing DS3 with them when I was in the middle of my Tesco.com order.

So why can't I find them now - the boys and I must have spend 1 hour looking

this morning. DS3 says " keys gone now " - well I think we have worked that

one out-thank you.

But where are they? I am house bound (well foot bound) without them, and I

have to take the boys to a friends for trick or treating and Tescos are

coming and DH is in London..........................I NEED MY KEYS.

I hate days like this!

I do have a reputation for loosing my keys (always within the house) and I

did have one of those beep things that when you whistled they responded.

Which was great until DS3 was born and his cry must have been on the same

level as a whistle so every time he cried my keys beeped!

Maybe now he is older it might be time to dig it out again.

Mind you just found a note from DH which says my car desperately need petrol

so why bother finding them!

At least with mobile phones you can ring them to see if you can trace

the sound, and with our cordless handsets we can beep each one if

they go AWOL. They should make keys that respond to being " beeped "

remotely and tell you where they are!

Hope you find them soon Trisha.

Confession time here... 'we' lost a set of keys recently - only the car keys and

not drastic as we had a second set, but not ideal as we didn't want to rely on

just one set. We searched the house high and low but couldn't find them. So we

ordered a new key - they are the type that you have to get from the dealer as

they are coded to the car with an imobiliser, remote locking and other such

technical gismos that I won't pretend to understand.

Before going to the airport last month I cleaned out my handbag (which I swear I

had looked in before) so that I wouldn't be arrested for having sewing needles,

scissors etc. in there, and there in one of the pockets - not even hidden - were

the blasted keys. As the replacements cost us the best part of £70 I have kept

very quiet about this and not told DH!! The keys were laid to rest in a bin at

Heathrow!!

don't talk to me about keys!!

Yesterday the front door blew shut on silly me who hadn't propped it open.

Mari and I were outside ... but Nia was inside :( She was safe in the pram

but wide awake aggggghhhhhhhhh. Luckily back door was open (only because

I'd opened it for a smoking friend) and I managed to prise open the doors in

the back lane - phewwwww - amazingly Nia wasn't crying - Nizzy the clingon

normally cries within 2 minutes of being put down without Mami!!

surely you threw away a *get out of jail free* card in case it ever happens

again. Anyway, you could have just planted them somewehere that your DH had

previously searched :-)

Sadly due to the fact that the keys are all coded they no longer worked - I

tested this before I threw them away. The car had to go to the garage and the

codes on our remaining

set, the new set and the car were all changed to something new. My putting the

old keys into the ignition set off the car alarm...

My sister bought me one of these as the DDs love to take keys and put

them in one of their many handbags! Unfortunately it is meant to

respond to a whistle but only responds to DD2 throwing a wobbly -

which is quite often at the mo as she is in practice for the Terrible

Twos!

Hope you found your keys, Trisha!

Francesca

PS We now have two spare sets and keep them in a safe place well

out of grubby toddler reach!!

That is the clue!!

Now where would a two year old think to put them? In a box/container

or bag in or near the toybox? Alternatively have you tried the

dishwasher?

Good luck.

DD1 used to put everything in the washing machine, when she was a

toddler. DD2 puts everything in the wine rack (built in to the kitchen,

and sadly always empty!)

Has he got a little sit on car with a lift up seat?

I know that feeling - that is where I found Jacks shoes on his very first day

at nursery!

However the good news is that has found them. Isaac had put them in

's bum bag. took the bum bag to bed with him (!) and tonight

looked in it and hey presto keys.

However DH is sworn to secrecy until tells me tomorrow.

Someone who will remain nameless (mainly cos I can't remember which) posted my

car keys in the powder dispenser of the clothes washer. Cost me £40.00 to get

them back. Luckily she told me before I turned the washer on - little rat did

have a big grin on her face at the time.

Has he got a little sit on car with a lift up seat? You wouldn't

believe the things I've found in there (including a half drunk cup of

milk which had gone mouldy - euuuuck.)

Phew. I hate it when things go missing and it's such a relief when

they turn up isn't it?!!!
