LOL, no, dear Jacquie, but I am not surprised that YOU think so!

Salli

P.S. Putter says that you should not listen to me as I am merely a NPC

Yes, this is exactly what n is like with the other kids at the park.

Great observation.

Yes, you can ignore NPC's all you want but sometimes they have useful items

so you might want to talk to them and sometimes you have to fight them.

I think you are describing Solipsism, the idea that only *I* exist, I am the

only one who is *real* http://www.speakeasy.org/~demiurge/solipsism.html

i have the knowledge too, but i have a hard time applying it. i mean,

i KNOW you all are doing things right now as i sit here. in fact, i

know EVERYBODY is doing something right now, but when i try to

imagine it happening, i just can't. would that go to theory of mind

or what?

Okay. This is an honest question: do you guys live your lives thinking

way, although that's how this is sounding and I know that - I mean in just

make good friends and lovers and children so everybody benefits.

You all must think I'm crazy or selfish or something, and maybe I am...but

this is the only way to look at life I have!

I followed your link and read the article. Many philosophers with whom I

agree were cited in the article, actually. But I do have the knowledge that

everything outside of me is 'real', although that's not always been the

case. Movies like 'The Matrix' really shake me up because they address my

innate fear that nothing I accept as true and real does in fact exist at

all. It can haunt me for days, actually. I am a true child of

Aristotle - if I can see it/touch it/taste it/feel it, it's real. If not,

I'm not likely to take your word for it. ;-)

Well, that is true to a degree of everyone perhaps, but NOT to the degree

that it is true of people with autism. There is a pretty clear and visible

difference.

No, you don't sound selfish at all and I know exactly what you are trying to

say. All of us really have only our own reality; some are better at

perceiving something of another person's reality and some are worse. People

with autism are notoriously and overwhelmingly worse.

Well, yeah, to some extent, we are all the " star " of our own world,

but I think that what Salli is saying (what is saying) is

that Putter sort of pigeon holes the roles of the other " players " in

his world, and sees them as just running their scripts...not

interacting above that level? So he is the only dynamic character,

doing his own thing--making whatever he chooses happen, and they

just...are.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Exactly. Except of course Putter does NOT want to talk to her.

Okay...so like while I know that my best friend is always available to me in

her role of friend, listener, and confidante, I also realize that she has

her life and her issues going on all the time and I can't always expect her

to be exactly what I need when I need it -- but Putter would sort of see her

as being waiting by the phone for him to call and talk, with nothing else on

her agenda?
