Guest guest
Putter had a great day and Mrs. Sarver [kindergarten teacher] just eats days like this up. Oh, I wish today would have been a day when you were here to observe him from a distance, and you could have seen the remarkable way Putter handled himself today. Salli, he walked in the class and Mrs. Sarver has stations set up on each table and all the toys in the play area. They were already on the carpet doing a math assignment with dominoes. Putt sat down in the middle of the group and picked up two dominoes and took his turn (as he sat down) as though he had been present all morning. he sat and really listened and participated. He did go from math to DDL [cannot remember what those initials stand for] to Stations with me -- ALL in a row!! Nor running off to begin a village with legos or " Breaktime! " or " No! " Three different structured activities in a row, with NO distractions and NO break!! He is soooo ready for first grade. Val came in today from Croyden [she is a former aide who trains aides now; Croyden is Putter's old sped school] and I told her all about his many obstacles and triumphs -- she agrees he's on the way to prepare for first grade -- I don't know what your feelings are, but I assure you if you give me six consecutive months he will be successful in first grade ALL year in ALL specials! He did a domino exercise with Kearthan at RECESS time, not an option [assigned play, I think she means] a choice. I was writing our schedule for tomorrow and Putter began saying his morning script to Anne and I: " Putter wakes up " " Putter sits on the sofa, " " Dartie " " Toast! " Then I told him to say only complete sentences. Well, since I said to say sentences, he began to write his own script! Salli
