Guest guest
Birthday party supplies, cake and ice cream...$30 Tie dye and tee shirts for everyone...$25 String for friendship bracelets, movies, popcorn...$15 Having a 13 yo daughter who has trouble socially having a successful and VERY COOL tent-in-the-backyard sleepover....PRICELESS. Birthday parties and my daughter...where to begin. I had decided on her 6th birthday when NOBODY showed up (very heartbroken little girl), that would never happen again. So every year, I make it an event that nobody would want to miss. I have to be very creative. One year, I took all the invited girls 75 miles (one way) to an ice-skating rink. I don't think any of them had ever been ice skating. I've taken them all to the annual carnival that happens every year around her birthday. I only invite the girls Alyx wants to invite...the girls who are nice to her. So for next year, Alyx wants to have a boy/girl dance. I'm afraid again that nobody will show up. Now, how do I make that NOT happen. Got a year to plan, any suggestions?

You are absolutely correct about planning something the kids will want to come to and probably some of them are already thinking that Alyx's parties are events that they do not want to miss. But the boys will not have a long experience with Alyx's great parties so I think you will have to focus on getting the boys first. The girls will come if the boys do anyway. Fourteen year old boys can definitely be attracted by good food. I don't think they will be attracted by a dance, quite the reverse if my fourteen-in-five-days is anything to go on. would come for good games probably (that is true of many boys his age). Hmm. A video game/dance? Now that's original, but all it would mean would be a bunch of boys playing video games while the girls chatted and hoped the boys would talk to them. Can you make a boy-attracting before event, followed by a dance? Tickets to some local sports event, followed by the dance, all as part of the party? Those are my ideas so far; I'll keep thinking. Guest guest
I'm glad she had such a terrific birthday. Boone has never had a party with his own friends. He doesn't have any. But Amber's friends and Dillon's friends are always here. Boone's birthday is in summer, so we can't even invite classmates, unfortunately.
