Guest guest
>Umm.. Well, I know there *is* a 2nd law of thermodynamics, but couldn't have said what it was. I majored in French, so am very impressed. It's not so cool for impressing most 14 year olds, no. Well my 12 & 14yrolds would be impressed if you would teach them french swear words. They already know the only one I ever learned! Not that I would teach them if I knew any, and it wouldn't be cool even if I did know because I am their mum... I have no idea if they think that a mum who knows about computers and engineering things has any street cred or is just plain embarassing because it doesn't fit the stereotype. Anyone else met 'everyone else's mum' or have anything to disprove the 'I'm the only one in my group who has to .../ isn't allowed to...' statement - apart from just knowing about these things because you are a parent? The 'I'm the only one who gets so little pocket money' was exposed by DS2's class doing a graph of the results of their pocket money survey. He was very proud of the graph, but looked surprised when I pointed out that there were others in the same band and some in lower ones than him. The power of statistics in the right hands :-) just as well he doesn't know too much about using them as any politician/marketing person (or even DS1 and DD) would been able to make a case for a 100% rise without any problem at all!!!
