Guest guest
We have a 3 year old dual fuel cooker which we took out of our old house (as we did not like the people buying it!!) but which has been sitting in the garage for 18 months now. Tried to sell it in the paper but no luck. Does anyone know of any charities (I live on the Kent/Sussex borders) that would want it? DH is threatening to take it to the tip if I don't find a home for it soon which is a real shame as I am sure there is someone who could use it. Off the top of my head - there is a community furniture place based in Hastings (I often see their vans trundling merrily up the A21 well past Lamberhurst). Or try the Salvation Army (the big one in central TW) or ask Shelter for their local contact and see if they can help. Have you put it in the Friday ad? I've shifted all sorts of crap this way. If you don't want money for it you could advertise it via a " help line " type programme on local radio. I know our scout hut would have it at a drop of a hat but the miles are too great. Otherwise a charity like the Saint de Society - they often help people to get flats set up. Try the local churches they may know a family in need. Guest guest
Snap - cooker in the garage that is. We brought it from our old house as it was expensive and in good condition as my sister wanted it. She then moved in with a bloke and is still " thinking about it " . it's been there 2.5 years now. The worst bit is that it needed a really good clean when we moved and she said " don't worry I'll do that when I take it " , so I couldn't easily advertise it without getting the rubber gloves out. Guest guest
There is also something called the Besom Foundation, unfortunately don't have the details any more as have deleted the entire file from that person... They collect stuff and give it to needy people. She lived in London, SW11... Guest guest
Have you thought about contacting local Social Services - there may well be a local Womans Refuge or similar that would like it. You may well have to drop it off or arrange delivery. When I had a massive clear out a few years back (following Grandmothers death and inheriting lots of useless furniture) I donated it to Relate who also run shelters for Women and also set them up in flats etc - they would be very grateful I'm sure.
