Guest guest
Hi Robin, Thanks for the thought but I know for a fact on this one that I am not pregnant....lol. Afraid to do anything right now just for that fact....lol. I go to my GYN at the end of the month and until then I obstain....lol. Another reason is that right now I am without a partner. Anyone know of a nice single available man here in the Akron/Cleveland, Ohio area??? Thanks, Laurette 4/23/04 309/290/265/
Guest guest
Laurette, I consider myself pretty lucky...the only time that I've had to vomit is when the food wasn't going in my stomach/pouch. It didn't matter how much I chewed or how mushy the food was. My surgeon sent me to a gastrointerologist and found out that my esophagas needed to be dialated..scar tissue had formed after my Lap RNY...I'm never really nauseated excpet if I eat to much a certain dairy product..like cheese or sour cream... Guest guest
I found that eating too fast and not chewing food up enough will make me feel sick. I haven't had any problems like that in awhile, I guess we all learn the hard way about that but what happens to me is that if I don't chew something up enough it will feel like cardboard or a rock going down and it hurts! Before going back to pureed foods I would definately try slowing down and chewing more. Keep us posted and take care! Guest guest
Hi, Tammy. The description of your son is very similar to our son, Dakota (8). The one thing that helped immensely is the introduction of epsom salt baths, lotions, sprays. Kids on the spectrum have a tendency to have a deficiency in magnesium and sulfate. The beauty of epsom salts is that they enter the body in a usable form through the skin, and both are crucial for digestion and detoxification. One of the symptoms of magnesium deficiency is hyperactivity--irritability, aggression, skin problems (itchy pimples) among others are also symptoms. The website www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm has information on epsom salt baths, lotions, etc. If the espom salts do not work (and for many people, they work very quickly) or if you still are not seeing the results that you desire, consider phenol or salicylate (a subset of phenol) sensitivity. Some of the behaviors that you list also sound like phenol and sal issues, as well, and from what you list for his great looking diet, they both appear and this may be why he is not making progress as quickly....... Good luck! whole family SCD 2+ years Mom to Dakota (8--NF with multiple tumors, CDD, seizures) and (6--happy, healthy, and supportive little brother) What am I doing wrong? My 6 year old son has been scd since 01/06 and has made some improvement but still seems to struggle with yeast. He is very hyper and doesn't know how to interact with others.Heplays inappropriately with them- throwing things and just disturbing them. Lately he scripts all day long. It drives me crazy! Movies, computer games, anything he's heard and memorized and I really am not happy about this. His stools look normal, no yeast rash on his bottom or backs of arms anymore, but a few pimples behind his knees and a few on his chest. Has his rash moved to these new places and is throwing me off? He is overall having the same old bizzarre behavior he had while gfcf. I thought this diet was the end all be all and I follow it to the T. At least I think I do, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone help me? I can't afford to pay for help from the moderators, as my (almost weekly) phone consults with the DAN are $90.00 for 15 mins. This is what my son eats regularly: Breakfast - scrambled eggs, cantaloupe, half of a homemade banana nut muffin and very diluted Dole pineapple juice Lunch - homemade chicken nuggets (pecanbread recipe) steamed broccoli with cauliflower, fresh fruit, and a whole cashew butter muffin. Sometimes carrot sticks too. Dinner - Homemade meatsauce (BTVC recipe) with homemade meatballs. Sometimes spaghetti squash with it. Fresh fruit, either banana, cantaloupe or watermelon. He'll have the other half of muffin for dessert. He's only eating 2 muffins a day, but he does eat a lot of fruit too. Could our salt be bad? I use Morton's Sea Salt, but it does have an anti caking agent called yellow prussiate of soda in it. Is this ingredient illegal? Is the fruit causing the yeast to flare up? I thought this diet would eliminate the need for anti fungals, but he continues to need to rotate sporanox, lamisil, and GSE. What can I do to help him? I feel like I'm busting my rump for nothing if he just continues to be the same. Thanks for any help that anyone might offer. I'm feelin'pretty low right now. ) Tammy For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following websites: http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info and http://www.pecanbread.com
Guest guest
Dear Carol and to all, Please go see: http://www.pecanbread.com/goatyogurt.html<http://www.pecanbread.com/goatyogurt.h\ tml>. Yes, Elaine discovered that the casein is denatured in a 24 hour batch of SCD yogurt! YEAH!!! Good news for us who have casein problems. Mimi is the one that helped us to figure out that it could not be the casein in the yogurt. That what we where suffering from was a " die off reaction " from eating too much yogurt, too fast...and that we needed to slow down lol! I thought it was the casein making us sick! Mimi said that many newbies make this mistake and blame the casein.....when it is DIE OFF! lol....we where no different. We have had no reaction since the last HUGE die off. Truly a blessing because the casomorphine reaction of Liquid milk, would put our autistic daughter and ADHD son into some very strange behaviors....I had rage attacks. Very similar to being " high " on opiates! We are so glad that SCD yogurt is safe for us. Mimi says that people should wait three months. We didn't think we had time to wait. KiKi was loosing weight too fast....and we needed to move faster. Hope this helps to explain things, Antoinette and entire house SCD 2/06 and healing when no other way worked. My concern was always with the lactose and we know most of that gets consumed in the incubation process and period of at 24-28 hours. Good to be reminded about casein! Guest guest
Generarlly, it is not suggested to try or use anti-fungals until the diet is appropriately adjusted and balanced. Too much fruit, low protein and low vegetables would send me into a yeast flare! This has to be looked at first before considering anything else. Summer >>> Dear Tammy, Antifungals may kill off the yeast, but after it's use it is known to cause the overgrowth of other bad gut guys. <<< Summer's Family, SCD 08/04 http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/openblooms/ --------------------------------- Ring'em or ping'em.
