Oh ! How sad. I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of your

*good* news and the naming tomorrow, but sometimes it's horrid not to

be able to grieve right away.

Cat/dog cremation's been expensive enough - that's a scary sum of

money to fork out. Poor goat too. I had a guinea pig die and his

rabbit mate stayed in his hutch bedroom for two days and didn't eat

for a week.

found my

oldest, most gorgeous horse dead in his stable.

- I'm so sorry to hear about it - any idea why, and will you

ever have any idea why? How old was he? Anyway (((hugs))) and

console yourself with thought that he is galloping around green

pastures full of (safe) meadow grass and flowers with lots of other

horses and goats...

Will the goat find another companion? Someone was telling me only

today of a horse that wouldn't go to shows unless his companion goat

went with him. Now I'm getting all tearful about the lonely

goat...and the lovely horse... hugs ..

love Caro

Belated sympathy, , it is so horrible to lose a trusted friend

but at least he went quietly in his sleep and you did not have to make

any decision. We lost our old Border Collie at the end of June and I

still miss him desperately but, as someone on this list said to me,

just think of and treasure all your memories of your time with him.

Not easy to do but it does help.

Take care, (((((((hugs)))))))

The goat is hanging around with the other two horses, and getting lost of ear

rubs from me. She will be ok, she will just attach herself in time to the

other two horses. They are all a bit depressed, but they have lost their

leader and best friend, so they need to grieve and then find direction, and

decide who will replace him as head of the herd (all be it a small herd!).

Its weird to watch as normally the four of them would graze together, and now

as the head of the herd has died, they are at different ends of the field,

wandering about aimlessley!

Someone asked how we would get him out, and my reply is that, we got him out

of the stable safely, the crematorium us a winch wrapped round the body

(undfortunately the head was the only part they could get to!). They winch

them on to a trailer. It sounds horrific, but actually it helped to watch,

as I felt I was helping my oldest friend on his way to horsey heaven! He was

nearly 27, and we think it was a heart attack, but we will never know.

Thanks for all your kind replies,
