Guest guest
DH and I had a row last night (over spilt milk) and we ended up not talking. DS2 stayed at my MIL's last night and despite me reminding her that DS2 goes to bed at 7pm and no later - she put him to bed at 8pm. Hence today I have a ratty child. He is now throwing a wobbie rather than going to bed. MIL now has DS1 staying and lets hope she has reminded him to do his homework today otherwise I might be tempted to commit a murder starting with her and finishing with DH. I hate the s and am thinking about handing my notice in and getting a job elsewhere ...............if only it was so easy. He is always up 6.30 ish and in our room for 7am. Without exception - even on holidays when he has had very late nights. I don't mind so much with DS1 as he will sleep in a little later but not with DS2. Anyway he has now gone to sleep although he is coughing in his sleep. The good news is that DS1 has done some of his homework. I think he just has his reading to do. The problem was that he had his usual school sheets (handwriting and maths) and his reading book. He also had his spellings and then had to finish work from his First Holy Communion class and on top of that had work to do from Cubs for the computer badge that he is doing. He is also supposed to make a start on his Tudor project for school! He is taking part in the Remembrance Sunday parade tomorrow afternoon and with church tomorrow morning I was worried that he would not find any time to do homework if he did not do a major chunk today. Anyway DH and I are just about talking, but I am not sure about MIL since I shouted at her! Guest guest
Trisha this did make me smile. DS stayed with my mum on Thurs and usually goes to bed at 7.30pm. I *know* he must have been to bed much later than normal, despite being told " he went to bed a normal-ish time " as he was a really grotty little bear on Friday - not helped by the NCT coffee afternoon being here and him being completely unsociable (took himself off to bed at one point!). Still I can't complain at the knock-on effect of a lie-in until 7,30 this morning. Guest guest
Trisha (((hugs))) Caro MIl's & DH's rant! Don't be too hard on yourself - I expect your MIL will mull this over and realise that she needs to support you a little more, ditto DH hopefully. I usually find that when we have had a lot to do at church (morning and afternoon as tomorrow for you) then he is happy to get some homework done in the later afternoon - as he's been doing nothing much but watching all day! Also I have discovered that homework BEFORE school in the morning works well to as DS is always raring to go then. Meanwhile the old addage holds true - don't part or go to bed on an argument with DH - sort it out before nightfall or you will all have a disturbed night. I hope the coughing doesn't turn into anything too! Ruth
