DS1 has this problem all the time. He was referred to the dermatologist for it last year - diagnosed as lip-licker's dermatitis which I think we had worked out for ourselves! Anyway, he was prescribed epaderm, which is a basic emollient without fragrances, colourings or preservatives. Doc described it as an alternative to vaseline, and didn't suggest using anything with it. Guest guest
DS has epaderm for when his eczema is bad. Really gungy but washes off easily enough in warm water. We seem to be in a phase of chewing bottom lip and as much of the chin as will fit under the top row of teeth, so DS has a permanent " smile " shaped chapped bit under his lips. Epaderm doesn't seem to be doing much (thought I'm not applying it as regularly as I probably should). When it gets quite bad a put a real smidgen of hydrocortisone cream on it under the epaderm and that definitely works, until he does it again.... Guest guest
Thanks you two; will try to see if local chemist does epaderm over the counter...calendula ointment does seem to have helped a bit in past 24 hrs... Caro
