DH keeps saying we should have a cleaner (we used to in Guernsey in

the olden days when it was just the two of us - she came 3 hours a

week and in that time did the whole flat, all the washing plus ironed

all his shirts as well). We both worked and didn't have any childcare

costs then...

Now whenever there are toys or clutter or " stuff " all over the place

DH keeps bringing up the cleaner thing - but I don't think he quite

realises that 3 hours wont have quite the same effect as it did then!!

Not only do we have ten times more mess, but a cleaner can't be

expected to sort out our paper work and hang up our pictures and put

old clothes away and all these other things that contribute to the

chaos!!

Still I shall look into it - apparently it doesn't cost anymore than

a babysitter (which we never have, by the way) - but it could just be

that if we got somebody to just do the floors and bathrooms

occasionally then it'd be easier to do the rest ourselves.

We have a cleaner two days a week, for two and a half hours each time.

She dusts the whole place, runs the hoover round everywhere, mops the

kitchen/downstairs loo/utility room and DH's office and does the

ironing. It's quite good as it makes me pick up most of the stuff on

the floor (as otherwise she cannot hoover) and also sort the washing

out and make sure it is dry and ready to iron on Mondays and Fridays.

HTH

Francesca (PS - she is £5 per hour which is quite cheap, my neighbour

pays £6 per hour) (PPS we are in Tunbridge Wells in Kent)
