Guest guest
re: knowing Ward - Our taking a break ANT was one of her pupils (Alison S) - same group? I don't think there was a Kirsten on one of the bits of paper she gave me in her file on ANT training (she is having a baby and taking a year's break - I am wondering whether not to do breastfeeding counsellor training and instead do ANT training to help branch get a teacher as soon as poss - well also I'm interested in doing it of course!) But haven't contacted her yet, or HQ - just looking at the course material and trying to evaluate whether could manage the study load... am a little encouraged that when asked a friend from antenatal group with DD (who is training now to be a midwife) - she didn't ROFLOL at the idea!! Guest guest
It is a good course for us with not much time on our hands! Takes as long as you need to complete and it is good fun doing it! The study load is as much as you like when you have the time and oomph to get it done! is a great tutor! I would go for it but then I did! :-) BFC takes as long to train but you don't get paid at the end of it all! At least with the ANT you get a Diploma and a very little bit of cash back! Good luck deciding! As a BFC AND an ANT I am constantly being told that the reason we are so short of BFC's is absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that they don't get paid... I think the era of genteel women playing Lady Bountiful and administering help for free has long since gone. We BFC's work darned hard for long hours and don't get paid. A real gripe of mine is when the NHS (eg a clinic) book us to take a (paid) midwife's place and no money is on offer for doing it.

I believe that BFC work as hard as ANT in alot of circumstances and I too cannot understand why they are not paid for their very valuable services, except that we can charge for ANT classes but not for BFC advice!
