I've recently bought a Panasonic SD 251 which came out tops (10/10)

in Good Housekeeping test in July this year; it got 10/10 for white

and wholemeal breads; GHI verdict " Farmhouse-shaped loaf with a

nicely domed top. Excellent results for both white and wholemeal

bread: good flavour and springy texture with a soft flaky crust.

Because it's so soft, however, the loaf is difficult to slice.

Extensive recipe selection. £129.99. Stockists: 08705 357357

BIL uses another Panasonic to make bread overnight every night, and

SIL kicks him out of bed to get it out!!!

I got mine through Comet - 0845 6007002 - £133.20 incl delivery to

home.

Others that came out well were:

7/10 Hobbs - Classic Rapide Breadmaker £89.9(4/10 for white

bread, 7/10 for wholemeal)

7/10 Cookworks Breadmaker B6989 £44.50 white bread 8/10 and wholemeal

6/10

7/10 LG HB-152CE £79.99 8/10 for white bread and 6/10 for wholemeal

7/10 Prima Home Bakery ABM6 £99.99 " Ideal choice for a family "

display panel is difficult to read; White bread 5/10 and wholemeal

7/10

Kenwood BM200 came out 6/10

Morphy s Fastbake Breadmaker 48230 came out 6/10

Let me know if you want more details on any of these...

Good Housekeeping says: " Breadmakers Are they worth the space they

take up? They bake a variety of loaves, some let you make cakes

(panasonic does, Prima, LG, Kenwood, Morphy s) - even jam -

( Hobbs, Kenwood, Prima)- and you can now buy one for under

£45. But just how well will it work? (The Cookworks one was the GHI

Budget Buy, whereas the Panasonic was the GHI Choice)

Caro

(Ironically I bought mine to make gluten free bread out of, and the

bread mix I need at the moment can't be done in a breadmaker ;-))

but the bread made for the others is really gorgeous and at least I

get to enjoy the smell! We got a bread slicer from Lakeland Ltd so

the bread slicing isn't a problem (Mine always comes out a wedge when

do by hand so got it anyway)
