Guest guest
I found something that had been missing for 3 years (even moving house in that time!) today thanks to Fly- lady! Isn't that cool? - I was so pleased. I've got a really nice solid beech wood extra large cot (bought second-hand I hasten to add) that I had for Verity. As we only had a double bed then, I used it with the side off butted up against our bed most of the time - however when I wanted to put the side on for daytime naps when she was about 9 months old, I discovered that the two plastic, end pieces that cover the metal rods of the drop side were missing from the bag of bolts/pieces. I cannot tell you how I *searched* and *searched* for them! I had a vague idea that I'd put them somewhere safe, and I thought they were somewhere in the three double wardrobes in our bedroom (at our old house). I must have turned those wardrobes out 3 or 4 times completely over the months. In the end I kind of bodged it back together - almost chucked it when we moved house - after all it would be no use to anyone else with missing pieces. I decided to keep it though - especially as I'd bought a nice sprung mattress for it, and it was an odd size so wouldn't go in a new cot. Anyway, I gave up hope of ever finding them when we moved house - I'd cleared out everything, every nook and cranny for the move - I concluded that I must have thrown them away accidentally. As we now have a six foot bed - I assembled the cot with the side bodged on for daytime naps when Alfie was about 3 months old - Verity sometimes sleeps in there too at night if she wants to be near us (it's pretty big). Fastforward to today, I decided to do a 27 fling boogie in the bathroom, but having quite a small bathroom I was struggling to find things to throw away, when I spotted my little used tin of make-up. Now I very rarely wear make-up, and when I do it's just a bit of mascara, and maybe lipstick which sit on the top of the pile in the tin, but trying to find my 27 items I emptied the lot out, only to find the long lost cot pieces!!! So... I'm really very chuffed - I would never, ever have bothered clearing out that tin had I not been trying to fulfil my 27 binged things quota - Flylady really does work )))) Hannah, 28 (who knows how to make a short story long LOL) Mum to Bethany 7 1/2, Lawrence nearly 6, Verity 3 1/2, Alfie 9 months Visit me on the web at :- http://hannahshome.20m.com

Guest guest
Hannah, so glad it's helped you (and lots of others!). I haven't actually found anything that I'd lost for a while, but my cupboards and drawers are gradually being cleared out and each time a zone comes round I clear out more things. There's loads of things I delete, but so much has helped me - it's just really nice to see other people seeing results. ;o)) Hannah SAHM to (4), Nicky (2) and Euan (7 months) Thankyou Fly-Lady!! Guest guest
I have her messages automatically going into a separate folder - have done for about six months - and the result is that I never read them! They would bug me much better if they were just in my inbox, or my NCT folder. Anyway, since the Flylady interest in this group over the last couple of weeks, I have actually made lots of improvements too. We were at the stage where every room in the house was a complete pigsty. Thanks to the inspiration from NCT-Coffee, rather than Flylady, my bedroom, 2 of my bathrooms, and my car have been spotless for a whole week now. It was a big effort to get them that way, but maintaining them has been a doddle. I haven't touched the rest of the house in that time, but now I know that *it can be done*. I think I will tackle the spare bedroom, dining room, downstairs loo and garage today. My goal is once I have all the rooms ship-shape, I will start reading Flylady's emails again. Thankyou NCT-Coffee, Joyce RE: Thankyou Fly-Lady!! Hannah, so glad it's helped you (and lots of others!). Guest guest
Maybe we could set up our own UK group - make it more relevent? Joyce -----Original Message----- From: Dick [sMTP:D@...] I signed up to Fly-Lady about 6 months ago and promptly unsubscribed as timings were all wrong - she'd be telling me to clear the breakfast things while I should still be asleep etc. Has she set up a UK group yet? I have also begun to sort out the children's toys which I had intended to do before Christmas anyway, and next job is our bedroom so that it can be a restful Postnatal Sanctuary! I'm more inspired than instructed I think!! Angi

I then skim through and apply from that moment on and overlap to the next morning. I receive the digest around midday which will be around 10am UK time. Definitely saves on deleting all those repeated messages. Still haven't shone my sink but I'm managing to keep it empty(ish) - usually it's overflowing with washing up. Definitely feel more motivated to do the housework, so something's working! Janet
