The little girl normally stands in the back between the 2 front seats. My heart turns over every time I see them. I have had 2 accidents on the route she comes to school, both at times of the day that are a lot less busy than school run time, and a child standing in the back would have been thrown through the window. Loud (ish) conversation in earshot with friend about child who is safe following a minor car crash because of its car seat. I'm sure someone here can help. (I'm a car seat nut re: the weight of child, after a friend lost her 9 month old niece following a rear shunt - mum had put her child in a forward facing seat 'because the HV said I should now she's 9 months'. But as said child wasn't sufficiently heavy the inertia on the seat belt didn't kick in until the seat had gone forward some inches and the child hit its head on the back of the seat in front. Coroner mentioned 'incorrect choice of car seat' in his report.) Yours, -- Helen Armfield helen@...
Guest guest
We have a police schools liaison officer who comes in to talk to the pupils - do you have one ? perhaps you could mention it? Or talk to the head teacher - mention your concerns - perhaps see if he thinks you could get a police officer to come and hang around at going home time.... I nkow it is not technically the school`s responsibility but he/she may have wise words. Someone said something about their little one being funny about going into seat at the mo (what kid has not gone through that stage?? ) and one of the mums said Oh well I just don't bother when he is in that mood.. I stood there thinking. I don't CARE what mood my child is in certain things are NOT in their power to decide and whether or not they are in a car seat securely fastened when we drive is one of them.. (just like I refuse to drive anyone anyplace without them having their seatbelt on)... sorry hit a nerve I guess ... I was in a car crash last year with Phoebe and Eloisa in the back.. ambulance driver said that it was a good thing that I had Eloisa in a back facing seat still (she was heavy and old enough for foreword facing seat but I had one that could both and had kept her back facing for some reason).. as he did would have thought she would have had one very bad whiplash injury if she had been facing the other way.. ( as it was I had the whiplash injury and it still bothers me to this day from time to time I can feel my neck is not as strong as it was before.) Lonnie mama to Phoebe and Eloisa and expecting a Christmas delivery.. When the jar is always full of biscuits What's the fun in biscuits??
