When she said (Flylady that is) shine your sink - I thought she only meant

the kitchen sink - you don't mean I have to venture into the utility room and

clean THAT sink do you?

My mucky beige one sparkles but the stainless steel one in there will never

sparkle. I don't know what DH did to it!

I know that feeling but been a room it gets more dumped on than an area!

I shouted at DH last night as I tried to get a cookery book down and loads of

tubes of glue and DIY bits fell on top of me.

This was when I was chucking out cookery books for the charity shop as I was

on a FLYlady mission!

I have had to be totally ruthless. We had a study which was bulging with

books and then DS1 wanted his own room. So we merged our bulging study with

the junk room (sorry spare bedroom!) and put the computer under the stairs

where I can keep and eye on the children whilst they are using it.

But the downside was that the bulging spare room did not merge well with a

bulging study. So something had to go - I gave boxes (and I mean boxes) of

books to the charity shop. We still have 3 bookcases (very tall ones IKEA

special) that are bulging and I am now starting on my cookery books which are

in the utility room. I use my favourites which are full of pictures. I

*need* to keep my vegetarian ones as I always have a panic attack when a

certain family come to stay but do we really *need* 3 Chinese cookery books

when we *always* use the take away? And as for the French cookery book? I am

working on moving that to the charity pile!

You make it sound like a disease!!

I have to tell you list, this puppy looks completely EDIBLE (and I'm

not Korean!)

I completely echo Vicki's sentiments re not having cleaners (none

available in this village even if we could afford them!) and Flylady

with the caveat that you do need a minimum of energy in order to do

the minimum she asks...

I caved too and re-subbed to Fly lady!! I now have 1 sparkling kitchen sink

(stainless steel) and one not so sparkly one! One of the sinks (the main

one) is white - and stained, don't think that one will ever sparkle again!

I absolutely loath housework. My DH sacked our cleaners after I made the

mistake of saying that they weren't terribly good - needless to say their

half ars*d attempt at cleaning was better than me doing nothing. Cleaners

are very expensive and very hard to find here - so I'm not holding my breath

about getting a new one.

Thing is, DH still piles his dirty dishes into my nice clean sink, forgets to

open the bedroom curtains, and when I complained that he doesn't plump up the

cushions on the sofa before he goes to bed he said that he had done it on the

days I'd asked him to do it but didn't realise that it needed doing every

day!

I've a white sink, too. It stains but the stains come off with a little

bleach wiped round with a piece of kitchen paper and left to stand for 30

mins before rinsing.

We don't have a utility room - just a so called 'utility area' with a second

sink

that gets used as a dumping ground!

Erk! Now this bit I dread. We've run out of wallspace for more bookcases,

and bookcase space for more books. But the books just keep on coming... I

think I'll be taking some boxes full to the Readers Rest next time I'm in

Lincoln.

Vicki - why don't we just exchange a couple of boxes of cookery books

between us from time to time, to kid ourselves we're getting rid of

books (visions of panic phone calls, " Vicki, can you look up the

ingredients for soused haddock with marmalade, please? " !!)

yes, French cookery - dreams of the past - yesterday I dropped in on a

friend whose husband had cooked large shallots in a parmesan cheese

sauce with bacon - it was so fantastically delicious - with defined

and blended flavours, and *real* flavours, I'd forgotten what really

well thought out food tasted like!!! (A naked chef recipe adapted,

apparently) ... for some future day when all children have left home

perhaps? But sure you could find a French cookery then Trisha, as all

the people with littlies will be turfing out their french cookery

books (as long as you tell them about flylady!!)

Caro

Supper is in the crock pot (chinese chicken, with onion, mushrooms,

bamboo thingys, no beansprouts, soy, ginger, garlic, tomato ... smells

great!)
