Guest guest
I can't connect to the internet at all. I think something has gone wrong with my dial up networking which doesn't seem to be able to recognise where I am dialling from. I'm sure there used to be a default location, but the box is empty now and I don't know how to put something in it. No idea how this has happened - logged off no problem last night, haven't been able to do a thing today. Any ideas anybody? Bin man? Guest guest
--- In nct-coffee@y..., " lrgarland@n... " <lrgarland@n...> > I'm sure there used to be a default location, but the box is empty now and I don't know how to put something in it. this may vary a bit depending on your version of windows (? I am assuming from your description) and dial-up networking. Click on Start-programs-accessories-dialup networking (or similar) and then open up the connection for your internet link. There should be a Dialling Rules or Dialling Properties button next to place where it doesn't say where you are dialling from. Click on the drop down button as there may still be a dialling location that just isn't selected. If there isn't, or the one that is there doesn't work, click the dialling rules/properties button. You will need to define a name, a dialling code (drop the leading zero from *you* area code, ie dialling code for London is 20) and a country (presumably UK). it is likely that you can leave the rest (assuming you don't need to dial anything for an outside line) hth james
