I couldn't find a price on the BCI-24 black and colour cartridges that it takes (perhaps because they are new) but this will make the difference in printing costs I have a Lexmark Z52 which I refill the cartridges (very easy, other models are not always as easy to refill) with ink from www.jrinkjet.co.uk a black cartridge can be refilled about 6-10 times so the savings are phenominal (250ml black = £9.99 incl postage). You have to be careful not to overfill, otherwise they ooze ink everywhere. Colour cartridges tend to loose their quality after 3 or 4 refills though. I do lots and lots of printing (brochures mainly 50% colour, though these days I tend to get a lot of the mainly B & W pages photocopied for speed). I go through a bottle of black in about 10 days, the printer is in use most days about 12-15 hours out of 24. For photos they have a photo colour cartridge, the quality of which is superb. Am on 2nd printer, the first was replaced about 2 days before warranty expired due to a notch coming off the drive belt in very hot weather , promptly followed by several notches stripping off completely. Was amazed they replaced the whole printer rather than just the belt - and was able to keep the old one so am on the lookout for a replacement belt! Before that I had a Z51 which the software driver was a bit unstable on, so have relagated that to the loft as a spare, and I also have a HP OfficeJet T45 which doubles as fax machine & photocopier. This doesn't guzzle much ink, but I only use it when the Lexmark is in use. Miranda www.twinkleontheweb.co.uk
