I made my sister' s three tier wedding cake so I know how much work goes into them. It took me weeks (lace effect icing and butterflies) and cost an incredible £80 altogether in ingredients and equipment. I certainly won't be volunteering to do another for a long time. The cake I chose is one of the classic M F designs.Mum used to spend hours and lots of love doing them professionally - but never felt she could charge much for her time, as the ingreds cost so much :-(( Mum trained with a family friend (who I called Willy). Mum died nearly 10 yrs ago, the last cake she did was Ellie`s chistening 6 mths before. Since then, Willy has done all the family celeb cakes for weddings, christenings, etc - so it always seems as if mum is stilll around somewhere :-)))) Barbara
