Guest guest
Sorry Ruthie but I can see the funny side, but it probably did not seem funny at the time. I'd have probably reacted similarly if I was having a bad day. Hope you feel better soon <<Hugs>> Kate (SAHM who is supposed to be hoovering bedroom but somehow ended up on computer!) p***ed off > I am in a *very* bad mood today. > > Nothing to do with you lot, let me say straightaway Various > things,I'd rather not go into, added to lack of sleep due to too many > late nights. Guest guest
I am in a *very* bad mood today. Nothing to do with you lot, let me say straightaway Various things,I'd rather not go into, added to lack of sleep due to too many late nights. But how would YOU have interpreted the following incident? I went out shopping this morning before breakfast. Parking round these parts is difficult at best, on a Friday morning before an early Sabbath, it's nigh on impossible. I saw a spot right outside the shop I wanted, brilliant! But it was blocked by a pile of leaves that a worker was sweeping along the road. I signalled that I wanted to move in there, and waited just behind the spot, for him to sweep the pile further. He was chatting to someone else, and didn't, so in the end I parked right by the leaves. I got out of my car. The worker said: " There's a fine for that, you know. " " For what?! " " For blocking my access to the leaves. Now I'll have to take your name, address, registration details.... " I got back in the car, muttering something unrepeatable, and made to drive off. He banged on my window. " I was only joking! Can't you take a joke? For heavens sake, what's life without a bit of a joke!! Lighten up!! " I got out of the car again and, not looking at him, marched into the shop, with him yelling " Let's see a smile! " after me. Maybe if I had been in a better mood to start with, I'd have been able to see the funny side. (was there one?) Personally I am sick to death of people abusing people in the name of humour, and equally sick to death of being called humourless for not seeing the funny side of that abuse. What do you think? Ruthie.

Two out of two of you think I am humourless! Well, maybe I would have laughed if I hadn't been in such a bad mood, I guess. Ruthie

Oooh, don't worry Ruthie, we all have bad days, and I would probably have reacted in exactly the same way as you if he'd tried winding me up! :-) Mum to 19/9/97 and Caitlin 12/1/00.
