Guest guest
I posted about a month ago about and her getting the vest and not wanting to use it. Well, things have worked perfect and she loves the vest. She has been on the vest a good three weeks now and the problem is her cough has increased and she sounds really bad lung wise wheezing and crackling, she is not running a fever and appetite is the same. She is very very active each day swimming. When she coughs and can get the mucus up in her throat she just swallows it. She does breathing treatments with the vest, Pulmocort and Zopenex. Is this normal? Is the vest loosening all that mucus up and this is what we are hearing with the cough? How long will this go on with the cough? I am going to call the clinic today to let them know. I am just a little worried because has not had any lung problems until recently she had phenomena, she was born with meconium illius, so she has allot more tummy problems. Thanks, 6yrs and 21 months both with CF Tracey Oldham toldham@...
Guest guest
Hi Tracey, We have found that 's experiences are a result of the Vest treatment. All of the mucus that she was never able to get up is now being moved by the Vest treatment in combination with her inhaled meds. We have seen this heavy production of sputum occur for the first 1 - 2 months, then it starts to decrease. As she continues to use the Vest, it will keep her airways clear and prevent that big build up of mucus in her lungs. I think that calling your clinic is a great idea. They can properly evaluate her and make sure nothing else is happening. Our experiences are based on historical accounts and observations. Every person is different in how they respond, so getting in touch with the clinic would be appropriate. I wish you and continued success with the Vest. Let me know if I can help.
