Guest guest
Hi all I have just walked outside and seen heaps of red mushrooms growing in the unused garden outside Liams bedroom window, freak me out!! Am I to be concerned about that, is a garden fungus cause problems in CF lungs?? Sorry if its bit of a stupid question. If it is how do I get rid of it?? Another question I do gardening here, veges, and I have a compost heap which I put the kitchen scraps and all sortts in to. This must be a prime place for bacteria, is it ok to have a compost and put it on the garden?? Thanks mum to Liam 9 months. Ps had clinic Appt today and ped was very happy with him, he had grown and put on weight, he is now 8.6kg!! and 73cm long. One thing that really annoyed me was we found out Liam had been on the wrong enzymes since birth, hows that!! He was not on an enterically coated one, it was just enzyme powder, (Pancrex V) we are now on pancrease but I saw that it has sucrose in it, I hope we dont have a hyperactive kid, he is no good with sugar. Guest guest
Hi , from the hygienic point of view it would of course be much better to bury the whole garden under a thick layer of asphalt and hoover it at least twice a day :-)) Garden mushrooms don't grow in human lungs. The only fungus I know of that can be dangerous for Pwcf is aspergillus. And it's not the fungus itself that causes problems but an allergic reaction of the body to the spores of the fungus. I would deal with that problem if and when it becomes acute for Liam and there is a good chance that it will never become a problem. And you can't (and shouldn't) protect Liam from the normal environment. If you want to go the extra mile then don't use mulch around the house, because it harbours tons of molds. We did that for the first four years, but last year we even started mulching because the weed got out of control. Enjoy your garden. When Liam is old enough he will love to play there and the activity in the fresh air will do him more good then the bacteria could harm him. Just my two cents after six years in the " business " . When Fiona was a toddler I was as scared as you are. Congrats on the weight gain! Peace Torsten > Hi all > I have just walked outside and seen heaps of red mushrooms growing in the unused garden outside Liams bedroom window, freak me out!!
