overweight, have rhuematoid arthritis, chronic pancreatitis, COPD and

everything---how would this effect the pancreas? just a thought---

it is something to look into--anyone have any thoughts or

I work with the OR in a very large teaching hospital and gastric

bypasses are done often, 3-4 times a week. I have seen some

miraculous changes in people's lives. It will help with the

arthritis as well and with your breathing; but there is no cure for

COPD. It will also decrease the chances of developing diabetes;

depending on how much damage is in your pancreas. As far as if it

would affect your pancreas I dont know; that is something you will

need to discuss with the surgeon with whom you might have the

surgery. I hope I have helped some

I was just wanting to add that if you do decide to have the bypass

surgery, keep in mind that it's not a " cure. " You still have to do

your part as far as making sure your eating habits & activities are

appropriate. I agree that it would help with your arthritis, & even

though it won't cure COPD, it might make breathing less difficult. I

also don't know how it would affect the pancreas. Don't forget that

there are always risks to any surgery, as well as more specific risks

to the particular surgery doen, so be sure to gain all the knowledge

you can before you decide. Those are my thoughts.

Hugs to you,

Deanna
