Guest guest
It's okay Bert. For 2 years I drank a fifth of vodka four days a week. I worked at a night club. After I quit the job in 1998 I didn't drink but occasionally. I never had a problem. I am a recovering alcoholic (dx this because when I drank I couldn't stop and would have blackouts) It had been a year and a half after I quit drinking that I had my 1st Ap attack. I still find it had to believe that that is what caused it. I was still symptomatic 2 months later with nausea, rt upper quadrant pain, diarrhea after eating. The doctor ordered and ERCP and that is what their diagnosis was. He said I had advancing pancreatic cirrohsis due to alcohol consumption. I only drank on time this past february and ended up severly ill. (I'll never drink again). I am still a little skeptical of the diagnosis because the doctor I had seen just recently said the damage was not that bad. I have an appt. this coming Monday for discussion of the ERCP manometry of the sphinctor of Oddi. I believe that my pancreatits was due to the gallbladder being removed 2 months prior. I think this disease is a very difficult one to treat and to also find out what caused it. I was depressed and was afraid I was going to die that my life was over. But today I hardly think about it and just go on. I know what my limitations are. I am on a 40-50 gram fat/day diet. It is easy except for being unable to eat chocolate or peanut butter( my faborite). I know I am rambling.....I hope this is of some help to you? Sincerely, Patty Louisville, KY
