Guest guest
You may all know this but I only knew it in part and did not know the details. I accidentally stored my dual vial insulin container in the freezer for about 6-8 hours. I had NPH and Regular. The NPH turned very very white and when compared with a fresh vial you could tell it toast. The regular looked fine. I didn't have a spare regular to compare. I am getting a new vial tomorrow though. Freezing kills the insulin cells and means your insulin will not help to lower high blood sugars as well. Otherwise frozen insulin is supposed to be a toxic. If you are wonder, it was a brain fart. Too many thoughts and somehow placed the goods in the wrong place. Here is an excellent site that explains how to store insulin and what kind of shelf life, refigerator life, mixed life, etc to get out of it: http://www.lillydiabetes.com/AskLilly/InsulinFAQ2.cfm And here is an inspirational and educational article on an antartic adventurer who is diabetic and the means he must employ to keep his insulin warm enough: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/local/4335263.htm
