Guest guest
, I currently take MS Contin 30 mg twice a day. That is long acting morphine. I also take oxycodone 5 mg 4 times a day for breakthrough pain. Once I became accustomed to the pain meds, it helped the pain but didn't make my brain feel fuzzy. I know you said you can't take morphine, but can you take oxycodone? Prior to finding out I have autoimmune liver disease I was taking Lortab for the pain. It worked well most of the time, but after finding out about the liver disease, taking anything with tylenol on a regular basis is out. That doesn't leave very many options for oral pain meds as most have tylenol added to them. I am sometimes given demerol when I'm in the hospital but have only rarely been given oral demerol. I read somewhere that demerol is not the best choice for long term pain control. I've forgotten the reason, but someone else here may know. Also, a lot of people seem to have good results with the duragesic patches. I've never tried them, so can't comment on how well they work. take care, W
