Guest guest
Carol; Is there anything you can substitute for the DCCC or homemade yogurt in this recipe for those following dairy free SCD? Thanks, Kim Day 14 dairy free SCD Re: bread I like the Lois Lang Bread in BTVC because you can add cheese ( or if advanced, caroway seeds) or nuts or raisins to create variety. Carol F. Guest guest
Kim, I just made SCD bread the other day for my son for the first time and used the almond butter bread recipe out of Grain-Free Gourmet. It was suitable for stage 2 (if you are going by stages which we mostly are). He really liked it and it was pretty easy to make. I don't think I can post it, but I think if you email me off list I can share it if you don't have the book yet. (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that!) I LOVE the whole cookbook by the way and highly recommend it- so many delicious recipes my son will actually eat! Anyway, my daughter came in and saw Cody eating it and said " Hey, why does he get to eat bread from the store? " No, it doesn't look like white bread from the store- which I'm not sure my kids would remember, but it did remind me of the looks of the food for life brown rice bread from long long ago when we first went GF and before rice allergy. Guest guest
Carol, the recipe calls for 1 cup of dccc, so, if you're substituting it with pearsauce, would you use 1 cup of pearsauce, or would you use less than 1 cup??? Also, if you're following a dairy free SCD, could you substitute the melted butter with oil? Thanks. Guest guest
At http://www.pecanbread.com/recipes.html if you scroll down to nut, milk, cheese and yogurt then you will see a recipe for " Mock Farmer's Cheese " that someone used to successfully make Lois Lang bread.
