Dear SCD pals,

We came to Pecan Bread with Phenol/salicylate sensitivity, casein sensitivity,

gluten sensitivity, corn allergy, bean sensitivity, the list goes on and on and

on...and God knows that soon would have become " allergic " to food....or it

seemed that way. I was afraid that if we cut one more thing out we would truly

have been malnourished. This was not funny....I cried...nothing felt good when

I ate...everything made KiKi sick.

Three months into the SCDiet and we can now eat cheese, yogurt, tolerate the

almond flour (high in phenols/slaicylates) and all the fruit we want.

Salycylates are in all foods....some higher than others...cutting out food was

not an option lol!. We have yet to try the bean...wait longer to heal more.

Elaine said that when the gut heals often food intolerances like these goes away

(for some of us)....it did us. At first we did eat more pecans to avoid

reaction to phenols (thus came the name of Pecan Bread.com!).....and did not

over indulge in purple grapes....but Elaine said that if it doesn't cause

anaphylaxis, to trust and eat it....this we did.....because we had to out of

fear of being malnourished....I am glad we did trust, because we never needed

the enzymes " No Phenol " . We are fine now.

God Bless, Antoinette (2/06 celiac with multiple allergies and chemical

sensitivity....KiKi-2 celiac/autistic getting better on SCD....admit have a

ways to go)
